2 Dates Through Feb 27, 2021

ABOUT ABOUT

Step back in time as we explore how plate tectonics and volcanic activity have shaped our local landscapes.  Learn why Sonoma County is home to such rich geologic diversity, and how that diversity has informed the history of the region. Expect a short walk to socially distanced lecture seating.

Explore the boundary of the North American and Pacific Plates while marveling at the unique geological history of the Sonoma Coast. View sandstone formations chiseled by the elements and learn how geologists find evidence of tectonic theory through observable coastal features. We’ll learn about plate tectonics and observe a myriad of coastal rock formations.
